Appointment Waitlist

It is still hard to make an appointment and DPS cannot schedule further than 30 days but there is a new scheduling option!

Students and parents looking to schedule a driver's test can now receive notifications when appointments become available. By signing up online, applicants will receive emails from Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) as soon as new appointments open up. Make sure they are aware, the notifications will alert subscribers to availability but will not reserve the appointment; subscribers will still have to make the appointment online. To subscribe, visit the appointments section at drive.mn.gov and click on the link called “Manage your appointment availability subscriptions."

Resource for Risky Driving

I was looking at national statistics for distracted driving and impaired driving and I found this resource on the NHTSA website.   I found it hard to pick just one item to share because it appears that, since the start of Covid, a lot of risky driving behavior numbers are rising.  There is a lot of good and surprising information, including pages that you could share with students. https://www.nhtsa.gov/risky-driving

To:

Good morning,

Effective immediately, when a Minnesota Instructional Permit applicant under the age of 18 years old, who has passed the Class D Knowledge Exam,  and successfully applies for a Minnesota Instructional Permit will now have their Blue Card “voided” and returned to the applicant for the applicant’s records.  Please see the attached example.

At this time it only applies to the Blue Cards.

Thank you!
